Cleared for Take Off!

We got some great news from the doctor yesterday. Addison has been cleared for take off. No more bronchial infection! The torture of the breathing treatments paid off. Although you cannot tell from these pictures, Addison is NOT a fan of the penguin nebulizer. Torture. Pure torture for 10 minutes each treatment. The ears look much better, too. The antibiotic torture paid off as well. This child DOES NOT like medicine and cannot be tricked into taking it. Hopefully, we are finished with the yucky stuff for a while. (Needless to say, she will not be going to daycare today)!

We leave for the Wild West tomorrow. It's hard to believe that we will not have cell phone service and will have limited, if any, access to our dial up internet service while we are there. We'll be sure to take lots of pictures and promise to post if we can.

Happy Summer (and Happy 4th) to all of you!

More Peas Please!

We have a favorite (for now)! Sweet Green Peas! Check out those 2 pearly whites on the bottom. The better to bite her mommy with...

Six Months (and One Week) Old!

Where has the time gone? It is so hard to believe our little one is already six months old. Time is just flying by, and part of me wishes we could hit the pause button for a little while. Addison is growing and changing so quickly, and while we would love to keep her small forever, we know this is just the beginning of many wonderful times.
Height: 26 3/4 inches (somewhere in the 80th percentile)
Weight: 15 lbs., 6.5 oz. (roughly 50th percentile)
Head circumference: 17 (not sure about the percentile)
The past month has been so much fun (aside from the ear infections and respiratory issues). Below are some things we would like to remember about our six month old little girl.

Eating: You are such a funny eater. Some days you gobble food up like it is going out of style and other days you could care less about it. When you choose to eat, you enjoy rice cereal mixed with fruit (pears, bananas or peaches), squash, carrots, green beans and your new favorite, sweet peas. You do not like sweet potatoes or applesauce. When you are done eating, you're done. You turn red in the face, close your lips tightly and spit out whatever manages to make it in before you decide you are finished. It's quite amusing. You're still not a huge fan of the bottle, but you will drink from it when you are hungry enough (as long as I am not the one trying to feed you a bottle). July. July is going to be the month we conquer the bottle!

Sleeping Beauty: You aren't a great napper, but that is okay because you usually sleep through the night. Typically, you go to bed somewhere between 9:00 and 9:30 at night and sleep until 7:30 or 8:00 in the morning. Whether you are napping or sleeping, you love to be on your side. It's the sweetest thing, and you look so peaceful when you're sleeping.

Little Miss Chatterbox: You are such a little chatterbox. We aren't sure what you are saying, but when you talk, it is obvious you are trying to tell us something. You'll just chat away with the most serious look on your face.

On a Roll: You love, love, love to roll over. Anytime we put you down on your back, you immediately flip yourself over. Luckily, you don't seem to mind being on your tummy anymore. You can flip yourself from your back to front and front to back now. When you are on your tummy, you raise your little head and kick your little legs. You look back and forth from side to side. So cute, you are!

Mover and a Shaker: You are busy, busy, busy! Whether you are in your jumperoo, your exersaucer or on your playmat, you are jumping, squealing, banging and just having the best time.

Ham: You are such a little ham. When we are out, you smile and coo and laugh at anyone who stops by to say hello to you. You are such a charming, happy girl.

Curious Georg(ette): You are so curious about your surroundings. It's amazing what catches your eyes these days. Each day is filled with new discoveries for you, and we just love watching you explore the world around you.

Crabby: Your little fingers are like crab claws. You grab and pinch and pull on anything that you can get your hands on. Sometimes, it just so happens to be mommy's hair that you pull on...

Sitting pretty (almost): Although you aren't sitting up entirely on your own just yet, you are getting really good at the tripod thing. You can balance yourself for a few minutes, but then you get really excited and fall over.
We are having so much fun watching our little girl grow and develop. Each day is a new adventure, and we look foward to the months (and years) ahead with our little girl.

Dear Germs...

Dear Germs,

Please go away! We are honored that you enjoy hanging out with us, but really, we have had enough! Since the beginning of June, we've all had our share of germs. I've had a sinus infection; Craig and I have both had a stomach virus; Addison has had not one, but two ear infections; the dog had some strange bite or something that made her face swell up like a bulldog; and to top it all off, Addison now has her third ear infection and a bronchial infection that requires a not so fun breathing treatment every six hours. We are planning to go on vacation next week, and we would all really love to be healthy by then. Can you please find someone else to pick on?

Summer Fun!

Addison went for her first swim last weekend. As you can tell from the pictures, she loved it (until she got cold). Here are a few pictures with Mr. Froggy.

There's nothing like a little sunbath to warm up after a cold swim!

Happy (Belated) Father's Day!

MY DADDY'S HAND

Daddy, Take my hand in yours and you will plainly see,

How very much I need you now to love and care for me.

As my little hand grows, I will need you even more,

Everything I do in life, I have never done before.

Teach me to be kind and loving, sharing and forgiving,

Show me through your acts of love the pure joy of living.

The years will pass by quickly and one day I will be grown,

I will pass what you have taught me onto children of my own.

Hold me always in your thoughts and remember when we are apart,

The special love between a child and a daddy's heart.

--Authour Unknown

Happy (belated) first Father's Day!

Family, Friends and Special Times

Whew, I think we are all still recovering from our whirlwind weekend (with the help of a little extra sleep and some antibiotics for me and the love bug). What a wonderful weekend it was!

On Friday, we celebrated my mom, "Gigi's" birthday with a cookout at our house. The Grices and our friend Barbara joined us to celebrate, and as usual, a great time was had by all. Addison was very excited to spend Gigi's birthday with her, and I must say, I think Gigi was just as excited to spend her birthday with Addison.

On Saturday, Craig's family (parents, grandmother, sister, brother in law and baby niece) rolled into town. My family and Craig's sister and family stayed at our house with us, and needless to say, we had a full house with lots of baby paraphernalia. It's amazing how much space all of Addison's "baby accessories" occupy. We used to have lots of "hiding places" for things when people came to visit, but most of those "hiding places" are now occupied with baby things. In fact, I'm fairly certain Addison has taken over every room in our house in one capacity or another.

On Saturday night, we all enjoyed dinner together at Dockside. After dinner, we came back to our house for dessert, coffee and an early BIRTHDAY celebration for Craig (since his family was in town).

On Sunday, our closest friends and family joined us at church for Addison's Baptism service. We had four babies under the age of six months in tow (Addison, Lauren, Ali and Hudson), and believe it or not, they were all little angels. My, how things have changed!
Although I don't think she was feeling all that great on Sunday morning, Addison looked like a little doll in her gown, and she was truly wonderful during the Baptism service. After the service, we celebrated at our house with a luncheon. We owe a special thank you to Gigi as she worked for days (even on her birthday) preparing the feast for us to enjoy!

We are blessed to have such wonderful family and friends, and we are so thankful they were with us on Addison's special day. Although she is much too young to realize it, she is one loved little girl. In today's crazy world, it is reassuring to know that as she grows, she will have the support and guidance of many truly amazing people.

Suffice it to say, we had a wonderfully exciting weekend. Maybe a little too exciting for Addison and her mama. I ended up in the doctor's office on Monday with a sinus infection, and Addison ended up at the pediatrician's office with her second ear infection. (This would explain why she was a little clingy on Saturday and Sunday). I guess that means we just need a little extra rest and relaxation this week. Illnesses aside, we enjoyed seeing all of our friends and family and we look forward to the next time we are all together again.
